Company Background

Classic Computer Recovery, Inc. is an entirely female minority-owned business, founded by President and Chief Executive Officer, Linda McFarland in January, 2002.  Linda has over 24 years experience serving the computer industry.  Since 2000, CCR, Inc. has quickly become one of the Midwest’s leading technology recycling companies. We manage the receipt, disposal, and re-use of personal computers, laptops, monitors, fax machines, copiers, cell phones, POS technology, and UNIX-based equipment

CCR, Inc. was conceived both as the economy was showing serious signs of decline and advances in technology were producing faster, smaller and cheaper microchips, dramatically reducing the price of purchasing a PC. CCR, Inc. predicted the profits to be captured in the liquidation of the used remains of the glut of obsolete computer equipment. Additionally, we implemented ways of recovering the unwanted and retired end-of-life computer and electronic equipment without sending them to landfills. The significant pace of technological advancement will only continue to contribute to the exponential growth in electronic waste.

Extensive research was subsequently conducted regarding Environmental Protection Agency laws and the growing market for electronic waste from computer equipment such as plastics, metals, hard drives, CD-ROMS, media and computers that are deconstructed to recover precious metals of gold, silver, platinum and copper.

Company Philosophy

Through its recovery efforts, CCR, Inc. believes in the importance of enlightening corporations, School Districts and governmental agencies about becoming pro-active with electronic recycling by remarketing and refurbishing their computers as soon as they retire the units. CCR believes that “stock piling” is the biggest reason these three target segments end up paying recyclers and asset disposal companies large fees to remove the old equipment; sitting on the equipment for any length of time only serves to erode the “value” and/or increases the cost of disposal when they are finally ready to have it removed and disposed of.

CCR is very active with the local community governments such as municipalities, which have the responsibility of educating residents and small businesses about the importance of recycling. Most municipalities do this by holding one-two day collection events and pilot programs that reinforce the community to recycle.

Our Mission

Our Mission is three-fold:
To cost effectively avoid sending any electronics to landfills.
To educate businesses and schools about how inexpensive it can be and/or to show them how to recover some value at the end of the life cycle for their equipment.
To be the "Cost" Model that our Industry uses as the new standard in Electronic Recycling.
